Two French framed portraits

A vibrant watercolour by Paul Paquereau. Signed, dated 1927 and with a dedication. Remounted in a period wooden frame.

The preparatory charcoal sketch has been newly mounted in a black frame. (The sitter’s earring has not been included in the finished portrait.)

Paquereau (1871-1956) was an artist, illustrator and theatre designer. He designed for the Ballets Russes, La Comedie Francaise, the New York Met and the opera houses in Chicago and London. He was close to artists such as Breton, Dufy and Dufresne. He worked in Provence, Normandy and the South West of France.
