A 19th century single Beautiran quilt with scalloped edges. The cotton fabric has been repaired with small patches and is worn in other places – still a beautiful item nevertheless. It is stuffed with cotton wadding. (Freshly dry cleaned). A plain linen backing.
(Beautiran printed fabrics originate from a small village on the Garonne river, with excellent waters for the process of breaking down vegetable fibres and whitening them, and the possibility for good fluvial transport. Jean-Pierre Meillier established a factory here in 1792 for the manufacture of printed fabrics).
